UNLV Football
As far as assignments go, I’ve had tougher. Like when I was given two choices on a coin flip.
OK, Reno, I’ve gotta admit I dig the cool zephyrs during summertime, falling asleep to the mournful whistles and clickety-clack, clickety-clack of the Union Pacific and the fact I can break out a bowling shirt and an old pair of Wranglers with holes in the knees and back pockets and blend right in on Virginia Street.
Bill Ireland won his first against Saint Mary’s, but I think that was before the Gaels started recruiting all those 6-foot-10-inch power forwards from New Zealand.
The bad news for UNLV is it won’t be able to face New Mexico again until next season.
Maybe New Mexico will again provide the relief UNLV so desperately needs. The winless Lobos were just the tonic last season when the Rebels visited New Mexico and ended a streak of four straight losses — three by at least 20 points – with a 34-17 victory.
