Desiree Reed-Francois has seven immediate priorities as she prepares to take over as UNLV’s athletic director on Thursday. She will begin with a staff meeting at 8:30 a.m. that day.

UNLV and the Thomas & Mack Center/Sam Boyd Stadium are putting in $3.7 million to nearly wipe out the athletic department’s deficit. That gives new athletic director Desiree Reed-Francois a fresh start as she takes over Thursday.
The Las Vegas Stadium Authority unanimously approved the stadium lease agreement with the Oakland Raiders Thursday afternoon.

Public address announcer Dick Calvert was inducted into UNLV’s Athletics Hall of Fame on Thursday under the heading of “distinguished contributor,” which is what he has been for the past 47 years.
On Monday, UNLV signed the last recruit of its 2017 football class. His name is Thaddeus Thatcher. He is 9 years old, and for the past two years has been fighting t-cell leukemia/lymphoma.
