Derrick Thomas had 13 points Saturday as Boulder City’s boys basketball team rolled to a 62-32 win over Spring Creek in the championship game of the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.
Noah Taitz led Bishop Gorman’s boys basketball team with 23 points Friday as it defeated Birmingham (California) 85-44 in the Wild West Shootout in Reno.

Having won five consecutive state championships, Green Valley coach Jon Ferry might have expected to feel comfortable with a lead after the first day of the Class 4A state tournament. But Ferry wasn’t feeling so secure as his team prepared to leave the gym after Friday’s semifinal round at Spanish Springs.
