WINNEMUCCA — Green Valley’s quest to win a fourth straight state wrestling title got off to a solid start on the first day of the Division I tournament Friday.

Moapa Valley’s Kadyn Griffiths pinned his opponent in overtime at 120 pounds on Tuesday to lead the Pirates to a 51-23 victory over host Desert Pines.

Hunter Brown recorded a pin at 195 pounds, and Roger Alvarado won by pin at 220 on Wednesday to help Centennial’s wrestling team to a 36-32 win over host Cimarron-Memorial.
