The residents of Las Vegas’ Ward 3 aren’t thinking about the development issues surrounding Badlands golf course. They do, however, want more neighborhood police patrols to increase public safety. Other jurisdictions should help the City of Las Vegas with its growing homelessness population. That’s according to former Assemblywoman Olivia Diaz who’s running for the Ward 3 city council seat.

Legal betting on the Oscars a first

For the first time in the United States, you can legally bet on the Oscars. New Jersey is the first state in the U.S. to allow sportsbooks to accept wagers on the big event. But, compared to football games and other sports events, the limits for the Oscars are small. Some set the limit for the amount wagered at $500 a bet. Sportsbooks sometimes accept six- and seven-figure wagers on football games. In Nevada, sportsbooks have not offered wagers on the Oscars… Yet.

Southern California investors bought nearly 60 acres of mostly empty real estate near the Strip for $130 million. The Daneshgar family, owners of 3D Investments, acquired the spread at Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane. Previous plans for the site included hotel-condo projects the W Las Vegas and Las Ramblas. Backers of the $3 billion Las Ramblas included actor George Clooney and nightclub owner Rande Gerber.
