In the Las Vegas Valley, the chances of getting a white Christmas are slim. But this year, you can have a “Knight” Christmas. A Henderson resident has a Christmas lights display that is synchronized to the entrance music for the Golden Knights. GG Misa’s Knights light show is played every 30 minutes from 5 to 10 nightly. His light show consists of two songs: Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and the entrance music, “Le Castle Vania,” from the movie “John Wick.” The display is located at 730 Bollons Island St. (Richard Brian/Las Vegas Reivew-Journal)

Ian Alexander accepts academic scholarship to Northwestern University

Clark senior forward Ian Alexander was awarded a full scholarship Monday, but not for basketball. Alexander is going to study bio-medical engineering at Northwestern, thanks in part to a non-profit organization called QuestBridge that aims to send low income students to high academic universities. Alexander, a straight-A student, discovered QuestBridge while recovering from a torn ACL he sustained in the Region Championship game against Bishop Gorman. Through QuestBridge, he spent the summer studying the business of sport at Penn. He was cleared to return to the court in August, and made his season debut for the Chargers basketball team on Saturday.

The top priority for Nevada education is overhauling the Nevada Plan. There isn’t going to be a tax hike to fully implement weighted funding, and Read by 3 needs to be modified. That’s all according to Sen. Mo Denis, who will chair the Senate Education Committee. Denis also said he doesn’t now support extending $20 million in tax credits for the Opportunity Scholarship program.
