The Washoe County Health District received a presumptive positive case of COVID-19, the first in Washoe County. The test has been sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for confirmation.The case is a male resident in his 50s who is linked to the Grand Princess cruise ship outbreak. His condition is stable and he is self isolating at home.The case has a family member who is a student at Huffaker Elementary School in Reno, Nev. Out of an abundance of caution, the Health District requested that Huffaker Elementary School be closed Friday.

The Tesla Gigafactory’s economic impact on Nevada has exceeded projections, bringing in more than 7,000 jobs. In 2014, Nevada agreed to give the automotive and energy company $1.3 billion in tax abatements. In return, Tesla promised to meet certain requirements in areas like employment and capital investment. As of June, Tesla has brought in a total of $6.05 billion in capital investment, surpassing the $4.95 billion projection. City officials have big plans for Henderson. They envision a suburban utopia filled with plenty of open spaces, parks, community gardens and access to all modes of transportation. The city is projected to have 100,000 new residents in the next 20 years. Henderson is the second-largest city in Nevada, with an estimated population of more than 300,000.

1. A flight bound for New York made an emergency landing at McCarran this morning after one of its engines caught fire. Delta Flight 1057 departed from McCarran about 11:10 p.m. Tuesday night, before landing at 12:45 a.m. No injuries were reported, and the flight was expected to leave this morning.
2. The man accused of kidnapping a California woman was arrested Tuesday night, after the woman was found Monday night at Railroad Pass Casino. Virginia Paris’ ex-boyfriend Joseph Hetzel was arrested after police found a stolen vehicle from Mesquite near East Bruner Avenue. He was booked into the Henderson Detention Center and faces felony kidnapping and stalking charges.
3. Clark County commissioners voted to ban both possession and advertisement of marijuana at McCarran International Airport on Tuesday. The ban extends to all airport-owned property throughout Clark County, including parcels leased to private businesses. The ban does not apply to to vinyl-wrapped advertising on taxis and personal vehicles picking up or dropping off passengers.
