Monsoonal showers may be on the way Sunday

Monsoonal showers didn’t hit the Las Vegas Valley on Saturday, but that may change by the end of the weekend.

Temperatures for this weekend are expected to be about average, with a 30 percent chance for rain Sunday and Monday, the National Weather Service said.

Saturday saw mostly sunny skies, with a high of 106 degrees, meteorologist John Salmen said.

In addition to the chances for rain, both Sunday and Monday bring the possibility of thunderstorms, Salmen said. Both days will see highs in the upper 90s, he said.

After Monday, chances of rain are expected to diminish, the weather service said. The latter part of next week should see temperatures climb past 100.
