Floor evacuated at Palms; ‘maliciously discharged’ fire extinguisher blamed

A discharged fire extinguisher caused an evacuation at the Palms on Saturday morning, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Just after 3:50 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of smoke and evacuation on the 35th floor of the Palms at 4321 W. Flamingo Road, the department said. Crews arrived about 4 a.m., and reported audible alarms sounding.

Upon arrival, firefighters determined that the cause of the smoke was a “maliciously discharged” fire extinguisher and there was no actual fire, the department said. Units were released shortly after 4:15 a.m.
