Record heat continues in Las Vegas Valley
Don’t expect relief from above-normal temperatures in the Las Vegas Valley this week. An excessive-heat warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.
Temperatures Monday peaked at 110 degrees, tying a record set in 1944 for Aug. 28. Tuesday and Wednesday will have forecast highs near 109 degrees and 108 degrees, respectively.
Sunday’s temperature tied the record temperature of 109 for Aug. 27, which was was set in 2001.
There will be “a little drop-off” in temperatures starting Thursday, the weather service said, with a high of 107 degrees. Friday will follow with a 106-degree high.
“We’ll slowly be getting cooler into the weekend, but temperatures will still be significantly above normal,” meteorologist Alex Boothe said.
Forecast highs Saturday and Sunday should be back down in the lower 100s.

Clark County opened additional cooling stations for homeless people Monday. The stations will be open through Wednesday.
