Man in critical condition after North Las Vegas attack

North Las Vegas police are investigating a Monday morning attack that left one man in critical condition.

Officers initially responded just before 7 a.m. Monday morning to a gas station near Lone Mountain Road and Rancho Drive, according to North Las Vegas Police spokesman Aaron Patty.

Officers arriving at the scene found a 34-year-old man with “major injuries to his body,” Patty said. The man was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

Detectives worked their way back to a home near West Verde and North Kenny ways in North Las Vegas, where the man was attacked by another man. Patty said the man and his attacker knew each other.

After the attack, someone took the man from the house and brought him to the gas station before calling police.

Patty said a weapon was used in the attack, but detectives are still working to identify it. There were multiple people inside the house at the time of the attack, and police have detained several for questioning. No suspects have been arrested, he said, and the motive for the attack is unclear.

“We are on a holiday weekend, so we want folks to be extra cautious and careful, especially today,” Patty said. “We know that people are going to be having parties and get-togethers. Just be mindful of the situation and be as safe as possible.
