Radio station will lose a listener after sacking Heidi Harris

I am beyond disgusted and more than a little frightened that KXNT 840-AM, a CBS affiliate, fired Heidi Harris because she took a stance and expressed an opinion that offended a segment of that station’s audience. Yes, she actually dared to say that the best situation for a child was to be raised in a home headed by a mother and a father.Once the norm, this is now a shocking anomaly, I guess.

Apparently, rather than promoting free speech, this station is becoming yet another “safe space” for people who, instead of dialoguing and debating with opposing and especially more conservative voices, demand they be silenced. Why? Do they perhaps consider their own viewpoints difficult to defend?

While I did usually listen to KXNT in order to hear local programming, I will find an alternative. I know I am only one person, and thus my boycott means little or nothing to the station. However, I hope that others who share my belief that free speech means even those holding traditional, faith-based viewpoints are allowed to express them without needing to fear for their professional lives will likewise turn their backs on or take a metaphorical knee to KXNT.
