Jack Del Rio doesn’t dwell on Raiders’ losing streak as Chiefs loom

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Moving forward.

That has been Jack Del Rio’s mentality all season with the Raiders. It has become a repeated phrase for him during the last month.

“It was…’Move on Monday’ today,” Del Rio joked with members of the media. “It’s all going forward for the Chiefs.”

The Raiders are on a four-game losing streak. It began on Sept. 24 when they lost to the Washington Redskins. The Raiders would lose three more games with two of them being against division rivals.

Despite their losing streak, Del Rio’s strategy of looking ahead remains consistent.

“I don’t think we need to do anything except think about the Chiefs coming in here and finding a way to get a win,” Del Rio said. “That’s where we are.”

The current losing streak is Oakland’s longest since 2014 when they started 0-10. That was Derek Carr’s rookie season in the NFL, and it occurred a year before Del Rio became the Raiders head coach.

The losing streak ended on a stormy Thursday night at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. The Raiders opponent that night? The Kansas City Chiefs.

It was the last time the Raiders defeated the Chiefs.

In the final game in Oakland’s three-game homestand, Del Rio preaches his familiar positive message:

“Next game up,” Del Rio said. “Next opportunity to play good football. Play it for 60 minutes, go home with a smile on our face.”
