Man tried to circumcise nephew with kitchen knife

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Florida man was being held in jail with no bond on Monday after police say he attempted to circumcise his 20-month-old nephew with a large kitchen knife, according to the arrest affidavit.

Larry Floyd, 24, of Ocala, was arrested on Saturday evening on a charge of domestic aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to jail records.

Police reported that Floyd cut the toddler while the boy’s father had gone to the grocery store.

Floyd was still holding the child and the knife and was telling another relative what had happened when the father returned home, grabbed the boy and took him to the hospital, according to the affidavit.

The attending physician at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala noted the boy was still bleeding from a laceration around the circumference of the penis, but that a urologist would be needed to determine the full extent of the damage, according to the affidavit.

A hospital spokeswoman could not be reached on Monday for comment on the child’s condition.

Floyd told the arresting officer he needed a mental health evaluation and refused to comment on the child’s injury, according to the report.

Floyd has a history of arrests since 2008 on such charges as petty theft, armed robbery, domestic violence and aggravated stalking of a minor, according to jail records.
