Man faces arson charge in northeast valley apartment fire that killed dog
A man was arrested in connection with a fire that killed one dog and injured two others after an apartment complex fire in the northeast valley Monday morning, the Clark County Fire Department said.
He is Zayquan Jones, 18. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and faces a first-degree arson charge, detention center logs show.
More details on Jones’ involvement in the fire were not immediately available.
The fire started about 5:18 a.m. at 6968 Hopkins Drive, near the intersection of Lake Mead and Hollywood boulevards, according to a Clark County Fire Department release.
The two-story complex was evacuated and no residents were injured.
Two adults and two children were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross, the release said.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
