NLV police find dead child during abuse probe

While investigating a case of child abuse against a 4-month-old, North Las Vegas police found a dead child inside a home, an agency spokesman said Thursday.

Police received a report of an infant in critical condition at Sunrise Hospital Wednesday afternoon, North Las Vegas police spokesman Office Aaron Patty said.

A 17-year-old girl was arrested and booked into the juvenile detention center on one count of child abuse with substantial bodily harm, Patty said.

The child abuse investigation led detectives to a home in the 6600 block of Wood Thrush Place, near North Decatur Boulevard and the 215 Beltway. That’s where they found the dead child, Patty said.

Police don’t know the child’s age.

Investigators also aren’t sure about the relationship between the 17-year-old and the two children Patty said. That will be clarified as the investigation moves forward.

The 4-month-old remains in critical condition, Patty said.
