Cops stop car in 3-hour chase near Baker, Calif.

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were ready to do their part in a police chase that started in Southern California.

But the driver never made it to the state line.

The three-hour chase started about 1:30 p.m. in Escondido, north of San Diego, when an officer tried to pull over a black BMW suspected of being stolen, according to NBC Los Angeles. The driver made it to Interstate 15 northbound, frequently exceeding 80 mph.

CHP troopers informed their Nevada counterparts at 4:33 p.m. that the driver had been stopped on I-15 near Baker, Calif., and was taken into custody, NHP spokeswoman Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

Freeway exits and entrances were blocked throughout the chase.

No information about the driver was immediately available, Stuenkel said.
