Las Vegas police arrest man in Thursday night homicide

A man was arrested in connection with a body found in an apartment Thursday night.

Las Vegas police would not release information about the incident Thursday night, but confirmed on Friday it was a homicide.

Officers were dispatched just before 6 p.m. to the Sunwood Village apartment complex at 4020 S. Arville St., near West Flamingo Road and South Decatur Boulevard, according to a statement released by Metro Friday afternoon.

Officers found a woman’s body inside the apartment and took Nathaniel Martinez, 21, into custody at the scene.

Homicide detectives said Martinez lived at the apartment and invited the woman over. She was killed after the two had a fight, police said.

Martinez was taken to the Clark County Detention Center to face one count of open murder.

This is the 46th homicide investigated by Metro in 2015.

The woman’s identity and cause of death will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office after her family has been notified.
