Kristine Nau (Oct. 22 letter to the editor) is entirely right in criticizing the California produce stop on Interstate 15. The reasons for this traffic hang-up went by the wayside years ago. No one in California, or the world for that matter, really believes that the forced stop is protecting California produce from any kind of disease or non-native plant infestation. It should be eliminated.

Lethality at low cost in terms of personnel and materiel should be a principal objective of national military strategy not aesthetically pleasing presidential vanity projects costing billions.
We need to return to eating more naturally-derived and minimally processed foods for better health.
