MMA Rankings: Thompson’s KO of former champ triggers big move

After a spectacular performance in a main event victory over former champion Johny Hendricks on the UFC Fight Night 82 card at MGM Grand on Saturday, Stephen Thompson asked for an Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight title shot against Robbie Lawler.

While he didn't quite climb into top contender status in the latest CoveringTheCage.com rankings, Thompson did make a huge leap on the list.

Ovince Saint Preux wasn't as fortunate. Though he scored a win on the card and showed a great deal of toughness in battling through an early injury, he finds himself in the same spot as last week on the middleweight list as the performance failed to take him past any of the higher-ranked 185-pounders.

Justin Scoggins not only jumped into the top 10 after a brilliant effort in a win over Ray Borg, Scoggins finds himself at No. 8 on the list.
