Coroner IDs body recovered from Lake Mohave
The North Las Vegas teen whose body was recovered by rescue divers in Lake Mohave on Wednesday was identified as 17-year-old Troynell Jermone Johnson Jr., the Clark County coroner’s office said Thursday.
Park rangers were called Tuesday evening after Johnson Jr. went underwater and never resurfaced, the National Park Service said.
A group of friends was cliff diving near Placer Cove about 5:20 p.m. The group began to swim across Morning Star Cover to find another cliff, which was 50 years away, when Johnson Jr. started to struggle.
Johnson Jr.’s friends tried to save him, but he slipped underwater, the Park Service said.
Efforts by rescuers were postponed due to visibility until Wednesday morning when they found his body using sonar equipment, the Park Service said.
Johnson was not wearing a life jacket.
