Updated September 19, 2023 - 10:20 pm

A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries when struck by a suspected impaired driver in the central valley Tuesday afternoon, police said.

About 3:10 p.m., a 2014 Toyota Corolla exited a private driveway near West Sahara Avenue and Valley View Boulevard and drove over the pedestrian who was walking on a sidewalk on the west side of South Valley View, according to a preliminary crash report.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver fled the scene, but was located shortly after the collision. The driver was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run related charges, Metro said.
