‘Layaway Santas’ hitting Wal-Marts across country

EVESHAM, N.J. — A group of so-called “Layaway Santas” paid off random layaway accounts at a southern New Jersey Wal-Mart last week.

The Burlington County Times reports that at least eight good Samaritans went to the store and asked to pay off random accounts.

A spokeswoman for Wal-Mart says that they asked the cashiers to make sure that the accounts had toys in them. Debbie Serr says they paid off about $2,500 worth of accounts and insisted on remaining anonymous.

Serr says that she’s proud that the stores can be a part of the random acts of kindness.

Someone paid off $50,000 worth of layaway accounts at a central Pennsylvania Wal-Mart this week. The donor told store officials that customers could refer to him as Santa B.
