A family argument escalated into gunfire Sunday evening leaving one dead and two injured at a northwest valley home, according to police.

Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives are investigating a scene where police found three people with apparent gunshot wounds.

Metro Lt. Robert Price said police received multiple calls around 7:45 p.m. reporting gunfire in the 1600 block of Burningwood Lane, near the intersection of Torrey Pines and Vegas drives. He said officers arrived to find two men and one woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

Price said the three were a husband and wife, both in their early 50s, and a son in his mid-20s. They appeared to have gotten into an argument where “several firearms were produced,” he said, resulting in gunfire.

“Unfortunately, that exchange of gunfire resulted in all parties being shot,” Price said.

Price said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and medical units transported the two men to University Medical Center, where they are both in critical condition. He added that there is no additional threat to the public stemming from this incident.
