Shooting on I-11 sends one person to hospital
A shooting on southbound Interstate 11 between Flamingo Road and Tropicana Avenue sent one person to a local hospital in critical condition Monday, Las Vegas police said.
Police said they received a call for service just after 3:30 p.m. Monday about a male with a gunshot wound at a business near Tropicana and Mountain Vista Street. Officers arrived to find the male inside a vehicle.
“Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to determine the shooting took place southbound on Interstate 11, between Flamingo Road and Tropicana Avenue,” a Metro press release said. “It is believed the suspect was driving an unknown make sedan.”
I-11 is also known as U.S. Highway 95. Its southbound lanes between Flamingo and Tropicana were closed while police investigated.
Police are asking anybody who was driving south on I-11 between Charleston Boulevard and Russell Road between 3 p.m. and 3:35 p.m., and who may have witnessed the incident, to contact Metro detectives by phone at 702-828-7815, or by email at c19309h@lvmpd.com.
