LETTER: Local BLM land sales?

In his Friday letter, “Sitting around,” Kent Davidson urges action by the Bureau of Land Management to “sell more government-owned land for housing development.” Because approximately 20 percent of a new home’s cost is the land, shouldn’t the land be transferred at no or minimal cost to make new homes more affordable for younger first-time buyers?
