First teaser for new ‘Hunger Games’ is Capitol propaganda

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” doesn’t release until November, but audiences are already fidgeting in their seats waiting for the premiere.

The first teaser for the new film has now hit the Web, and it gives nothing relating to new footage from the film, but it provides a lot by way of the story.

The teaser is a propaganda video from “The Capitol” where President Snow, played by Donald Sutherland, addresses the people of Panem, explaining that if they follow his instructions that peace will ensue.

As Snow gives his speech we see that someone is with him, but it isn’t until the end that we realize it’s Peeta Mellark.

SPOILERS AHEAD

At the end of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” Katniss is saved from the arena, but we’re told that Peeta was captured by the Capitol and, according to this new teaser, is possibly being used as propaganda fodder.

Those who have read the books know where this is headed, but those who are experiencing the story for the first time on the big screen may find this tidbit piques their curiosity.

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” is due in theaters Nov. 21.
