Carlisle Makes Good Use of Free Time

Draft night is typically one of the most hectic evenings of the year for professional coaches and executives.

That is not the case for the front office of the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night.

For the first time since 2005, the Mavericks were without a selection.

That left plenty of free time to do other things.

Head coach Rick Carlisle appeared on the ESPN Radio coverage of the draft to discuss his team’s Wednesday trade with the New York Knicks.

He said he was monitoring the draft, but most of his attention was directed elsewhere.

“I’m just sitting here doing my taxes,” he said.

Seems like as good a time as any to get that done. Good work, coach.
