Fire damages North Las Vegas home

A house fire in North Las Vegas Tuesday night caused what firefighters estimate to be $100,000 in damage.

North Las Vegas firefighters responded to 2115 Larey Ave., near Simmons Street and Carey Avenue, just before midnight after receiving multiple calls of a house on fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-story house with smoke and flames showing on the outside.

The homeowner told firefighters he was down the street visiting his brother when the fire started. He tried tried to put out the fire with a garden hose.

About 30 firefighters from the North Las Vegas and Las Vegas fire departments got the fire under control in less than 15 minutes. There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
