Water Cooler: Pop culture fun

Here are a few things in pop culture that caught our eye last week.

■ Assemblywoman Teresa Benitez-Thompson, D-Reno, returns to the Legislature a week after having a baby. Turns out that birthing a squalling infant is perfect preparation for serving in the Nevada Legislature.

■ A woman attending the circus in Salina, Kan., comes face to face with an escaped tiger in a restroom. Well, if you’re going to go face to face with an escaped tiger, a restroom is the place to do it.

■ A nonprofit organization that hopes to send volunteers on a one-way trip to Mars in 2023 is accepting applications. Will write-ins be accepted?

■ Actress Reese Witherspoon ■ is arrested on a disorderly conduct charge after her husband is stopped by police for suspicion of DUI. We know a colorful, Chihuahua-packing lawyer who’d take the case.
