BLM taking public comment on Southern Nevada projects
Land managers are recommending $6.6 million worth of conservation, restoration and improvement projects for funding under a federal property sales program in the Las Vegas area.
A federal Bureau of Land Management public comment period opens today on proposed Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act projects. The comment period runs through June 20.
The agency plans to set aside in a reserve fund about $1.25 million of an overall $7.9 million collected from land sales.
Parks, trails and natural areas statewide would get just more than $1.7 million, and a wildfire fuels reduction project would get just under $1.7 million.
About $1.4 million is earmarked for capital improvements, almost $860,000 for conservation, and about $323,000 to acquire sensitive lands. An eastern Nevada landscape restoration project would get about $662,000.
