PICK OF THE WEEK:
RUBALCABA'S
TACO SHOP
5185 E. Lake Mead Blvd. at Nellis Boulevard, 452-5832
Rubalcaba's Taco Shop is a subdued restaurant with seven booths and a small outdoor patio, but don't let that fool you ---- Mr. Rubalcaba knows his tacos, and he's serving them day and night. Walk in, order at the counter and wait for your beef, fish, veggie or pork tacos or try one of 17 combination plates. Among those combo plates are beef taco and cheese enchilada (my favorite), bean tostada and cheese enchilada (another favorite), chorizo plate, chiles rellenos and the egg plates prepared with ham or as Mexicana or rancheros. Specials are two tamales, two chicken tacos, steak or chicken fajitas, large shrimp cocktail, rolled tacos and camarones (shrimp) rancheros or spicy a la diabla. Select one of 19 burritos (pork, beans, mixed, California, breakfast, tongue, mole), five tostadas (been, beef, chicken, pork) and 11 tortas (sandwiches) including beef, ham, chicken, shredded beef, milanesa or chorizo. There is guacamole, salsa Mexicana, quesadillas, nachos with pork or beef, chimichangas and taco salads made with beef, chicken or pork. Surprise yourself with the hamburger and fries. Tacos start at $2.10, and combos begin at $5.35. Rubalcaba's Taco Shop is open 24/7.
