Woman struck, killed while riding bicycle in North Las Vegas

A 50-year-old woman was struck and killed on her bicycle Friday afternoon.

North Las Vegas police spokesman Chrissie Coon said the woman was riding westbound on the sidewalk in front of a shopping center on the 1800 block of West Craig Road, near Martin Luther King Boulevard. At 2:37 p.m. a maroon 2007 Toyota Tundra pulled out of the shopping center and struck the woman as she crossed in front of the vehicle, Coon said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was not released.

Investigators found no evidence that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.

Coon said bicyclists should be walking their bicycles when on the sidewalk. They should ride them only in a traffic lane. She added that the driver of the truck also had responsibility to yield to pedestrians or other motorists.
