Water Cooler

Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and popular culture that we've been talking about lately.

* The Stratosphere plans a new ride that subjects riders to an 855-foot "controlled free-fall" from the top of the tower to a second-level landing platform. The first-level landing platform will be reserved for riders' breakfasts.

* A New Jersey company demonstrates a "sex robot" at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas. They're calling it the "Kardashian."

* Former St. Louis Cardinals slugger Mark McGwire finally admits that he used steroids on and off for nearly 10 years. Prompting even Little Leaguers to respond: "Well, duh."

* Sarah Palin becomes a Fox News contributor. Luckily, the ability to speak coherent sentences doesn't seem to be a job requirement for Fox News contributors.
