HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate three-mile hike to Cathedral Rock. On Tuesday, a strenuous five-mile hike with a 1,200-foot elevation gain from Mountain Spring Summit to Windy Peak. Also on Tuesday, a moderate two-and-a-half-mile evening hike with some scrambling around Fossil Ridge. Flashlights are required. On Thursday, easy one-mile hike to see wildlife. On Friday, moderate four-mile hike through Telephone Pole Canyon. On Saturday, an easy half-mile hike through Corn Creek Spring. Also on Saturday, an easy one-mile hike to Lost Creek (515-5367).

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Friday, an interactive program with an activity and craft for 2-6 year olds about the different type of holes animals make in the desert. On Saturday, a chance for 2-8 year olds to learn about the first explorers that came to Red Rock Canyon. There will be activities, stories, trail exploration and a take-home craft (515-5367).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
