25-year-old killed in stabbing identified

The man who Las Vegas police said was stabbed to death by his brother early Sunday was identified as Franco Juanes Ordones.

The 25-year-old was killed about 2:20 a.m. at an apartment complex on the 5100 block of East Tropicana Avenue, near Nellis Boulevard.

Police arrested his brother, Francisco Franco-Ordonez, 20, in the slaying.

The two brothers had been drinking when an argument broke out between them, according to a police report.

Ordones's girlfriend, Yaned Hernandez, told investigators she was talking to Ordones on her cell phone and heard Franco-Ordonez calling him names in the background, followed by what sounded like fighting, the report said.

Hernandez drove to her apartment, which she shared with the brothers and three children, and saw Ordones lying outside on the ground clutching a cell phone in his left hand. She called for help, but Ordones died about two minutes before paramedics arrived.

While Hernandez attended to Ordones, Franco-Ordonez emerged from the apartment and looked at his brother. He appeared upset, Hernandez told police.

Investigators found a bloody knife in the kitchen sink of the family apartment. When they questioned Franco-Ordonez, he told them he remembered arguing with his brother and standing over him outside, but he couldn't remember what happened in between, the report said.

Detectives arrested Franco-Ordonez and booked him at the Clark County Detention Center on one count of murder with a deadly weapon.
