POUR ON THE SPEED

If you're looking for thrills that don't involve tossing dice or playing cards, Speed: The Ride may be what you need.

Reaching speeds of 70 mph, the roller coaster at the Sahara, 2535 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is the fastest on the Strip. The ride lasts 45 seconds but it reaches top speed within four seconds, launching riders to a peak 224 feet in the air. After a brief pause at the top, with riders horizontal to the ground, the coaster reverses itself.

A combo package for Speed: The Ride and the Cyber Speedway costs $21.95, while an all-day pass for a photo, both rides and $3 worth of arcade tokens costs $27.95. One ride is $10.

Hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sundays through Thursdays; 11 a.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays.

Strip Tips is a weekly feature by Sonya Padgett that highlights attractions and activities on the Las Vegas Strip.
