A 35-year-old man was killed in a southeast valley apartment complex shooting Friday evening, Las Vegas police said.
Officers responded at 4:48 p.m. to a shooting in the 5700 block of Missouri Avenue, near Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue, according to Metro Lt. Yaz Yatomi.
They found the wounded man lying in the walkway of the complex with at least one gunshot wound, said Metro homicide Lt. Ray Steiber. Multiple shots were fired, but it was unclear how many times the man was hit, Steiber said.
The victim had been inside his apartment with his girlfriend and their children when a man knocked on the door and the two started arguing. They moved to the walkway of the apartment, the argument escalated and the shooting ensued.
The wounded man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the shooter was a man in his late 20s to early 30s with black, shoulder-length dreadlocks, Steiber said.
A second man who may have been with the shooter was described as a man with short-cropped hair, wearing gray or dark clothes.
They were seen leaving in a white, older model two- or four-door sedan, Steiber said.
Police don’t believe the shooting was gang-related, police said.
Officers were still talking to neighbors and trying to locate surveillance footage, Steiber said about 8 p.m. Friday.
