Man critical after crashing into tree in central valley
A man Las Vegas police said was suspected of DUI suffered critical injuries Sunday morning after crashing a car into a palm tree near the intersection of Charleston and Valley View boulevards.
The driver, Christian Rivera, 34 of Las Vegas, was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, police said.
First responders were called to the crash at about 6:45 a.m. and Valley View just south of Charleston, police said.
Rivera lost control of a 2006 Nissan 350Z when he struck a median, making the car rotate before hitting and knocking down the palm tree, police said. Fire and medical crews had to mechanically free him before he was hospitalized.
Valley View south of Charleston was shut down for several hours while Metro’s fatal unit investigated. It’s since reopened.
