The Rebels on Saturday night began what they hope will be a wave of momentum heading into next football season in the most memorable and impressive of ways, rallying from a 23-point deficit to defeat UNR 34-29 before an announced gathering of 19,921 at Sam Boyd Stadium.
UNLV quarterback Armani Rogers accounted for five touchdowns, including the winning 3-yard rush with 2:34 left, to give the Rebels a 34-29 victory over UNR. The Fremont Cannon will be painted red.
UNLV offensive lineman Zack Singer chose not to go through senior night ceremonies Saturday before the Rebels’ game against UNR. He hopes for an extra season of eligibility to be approved by the NCAA.
In a five-part series titled “Rebels in Ruins,” the Las Vegas Review-Journal analyzes UNLV’s downward trajectory in the revenue sports, how expansion and television revenues have widened the gap between the Power Five and Group of Five conferences, and what, if anything, the Rebels can do to expedite a return to prominence.
