Friday, Sept. 21 is National POW/MIA Day. The day of remembrance honors those who are missing in action and prisoners of war. Last month, 55 containers with remains from North Korea were received at Pearl Harbor. Two have been identified. There are 5 Nevadan MIA’s still missing from the Korean War. Their families are hopeful this remembrance day they may one day get closure.
Nevada’s government employees are selling their unused paid time off at retirement. Former Henderson City Manager Mark Calhoun got nearly $475,000 when he retired. Local governments in Clark and Washoe counties owe employees more than $600 million for unused time off.
