Allegiant Air is flying into the hotel business.

The Las Vegas budget carrier plans to build a beachfront resort in western Florida.

It includes a hotel, nine condominium towers and a marina spanning 22 acres.

Construction is expected to start by mid-2018 on the Sunseeker Resort.

Allegiant’s president, John Redmond, is a former Las Vegas hotel executive.

The resort is set to open by early 2020.

It will cost up to $600,000 to build in Port Charlotte, a small town near the Gulf of Mexico.

Las Vegas morning update for Monday, August 28th

1. Las Vegas police responded to an incident near The Cromwell early Monday morning. As party-goers were exiting Drai’s Nightclub, someone with a large stack of hundred dollar bills threw them in the air. People began fighting over the money, and police were called. There were two misdemeanor arrests and no injuries were reported.

2. Motorists heading to California from Nevada will soon hit an inspection station soon after crossing the state border. Construction could start as early as this fall on a $47 million agricultural inspection station 7 miles south of the Nevada border. Employees at the inspection station in Yermo are expected to be transferred to the new facility.

3. Flooding continues in Houston after catastrophic Hurricane Harvey has left thousands displaced. Rescue efforts have been compared to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Nevada Task Force-1 will be joining the rescue efforts, with the group being trained in structural collapse rescue as well as swift-water and confined-space rescues. The group is expected to arrive in Texas this morning.
