Las Vegans split over Small Business Jobs Bill

Las Vegas business owners are as divided as Congress over the Small Business Jobs Bill that passed the Senate on Thursday. It provides $30 billion in government funding, enables businesses to refinance owner-occupied real estate through the Small Business Administration, increases the maximum for some Small Business Administration loans and waives some fees.

Downtown takes another hit with Plaza’s plans

Gold Spike owner Stephen Siegel sees downtown Las Vegas losing 400 jobs when the Plaza closes 1,037 rooms in the next 60 days. The Siegel Group’s founder said he and other downtown casino operators have taken steps to halt a prolonged decline where gaming revenues have fallen more than 33 percent in two years.
