North Las Vegas campaign finance reports reflect candidates’ various spending habits

A seat on the North Las Vegas City Council isn’t cheap, according to campaign finance reports filed July 15. In the contentious Ward 4 race, candidates Wade Wagner and Richard Cherchio — who were separated by one vote — spent a combined $330,835. After much legal back-and-forth that included a recount of the votes July 22, Wagner was sworn in as the representative.

North Las Vegas”community within a community’ to remain open for now

The city’s recreational centers will stay open for now as the North Las Vegas City Council studies its finances. Families carrying signs that read “Save our park + rec services,” again packed City Hall, 2200 Civic Center Drive, during the council’s Aug. 3 meeting to beg city officials to keep open Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane, and Neighborhood Recreation Center, 1638 N. Bruce St. The young and the old spoke in favor of keeping the centers open and argued the same points — maintaining active, healthy lifestyles and keeping children off the streets — as they did a few weeks ago when the council had considered the closures.

North Las Vegas father-son duo distribute unique Italian brew

North Las Vegas houses the only beer distributor in the nation for Castello Premium Lagers. The Italian brews have been cropping up in the valley since mid-July from the Las Vegas Beer & Beverage Company’s 13,500-square-foot warehouse at 4606 Andrews St., Suite 2. Father-son duo Adam and Amesh Patel are the exclusive importers and distributors for the beer nationwide. They’re targeting pizzerias, restaurant chains, hotels and sports bars and are distributed in 25 states.
