Dentistry pioneers’ imprint on education continues to impact the city

Dr. Quannah McCall was regarded as a “distinguished pioneer in Nevada” thanks to his dentistry practice. He began his practice in Pioche, Nev., where his father also was a dentist. In 1936, the governor selected Quannah as the Nevada State Dentist for his efforts touring Nevada schools in a dental truck and house trailer offering kids dental care. In tow was his young daughter, Connie.

Silvertones singing for 20 years

The Silvertones singing group plans to mark two decades with a special show, “20 Years of Music,” scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the Starbright Theatre.

Faith Lutheran students to perform Elvis-themed musical

The Faith Lutheran Theatre Company plans to perform “All Shook Up,” which is based on William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” but features Elvis Presley as the star. It includes more than 20 of Presley’s greatest hits, including “Jailhouse Rock” and “It’s Now or Never.”
