Fishing report, April 3, 2014

LAKE MEAD — High winds have kept many anglers off the water, which in turn has kept many fish in the water. With the forecast calling for light breezes and sunny conditions for the weekend, fishing should improve. Falling water levels have made largemouth and smallmouth bass hard to find. Those anglers who are able to net live shad have reported success for striped bass, though most are weighing about 1.5 pounds. Anglers who are netting gizzard shad are reporting that many are in the 18- to 20-inch range, and some have been catching tilapia that are pushing the 4-pound mark.
