Golden Knights, NHL on best behavior

The NHL and the Golden Knights were on their best behavior during the 2017-18 season. The Knights tied for last place in number of fighting penalties, and forward William Karlsson was awarded the Lady Byng Trophy for sportsmanship. Vegas also was well-behaved off the ice, with zero arrests or similar issues. The NHL has had only three arrests in 2018, after having none in 2017. Unlike college football and the NFL, professional hockey continues to have few of its players arrested despite the violent nature of the game.

Lights FC ignite goalkeeper competition

The Lights FC’s competition in net is heating up. Rancho product Angel Alvarez make his second straight start last Sunday. It was the first time the Lights benched an available Ricardo Ferrino. Ferrino has 41 saves this year, while Alvarez has eight. I know that the competition between us three goalkeepers is great. If Ferrino would’ve played or Thomas would’ve played I know they would’ve done the same or even better than I did.

Garage catches fire in central valley

No one was injured after a detached garage caught fire early Wednesday morning on Lawry Avenue near Lake Mead Boulevard and MLK.
Crews from the Las Vegas Fire Department responded to a fire call just after 2 a.m.
When they arrived, firefighters had to cut holes in the roof to clear out smoke inside the garage so firefighters could enter safely, The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
