Living in the hot, dry Mojave Desert doesn’t mean you can’t have a lush, colorful landscape—and with the Water Smart Landscapes Rebate Program, you can, while at the same time you help our community save water and save money on your monthly water bills.
Drip-irrigated Water Smart Landscapes are verdant and vibrant—plus, they use 55 gallons of water less per square foot than thirsty, nonfunctional turfgrass. It’s the best of both worlds, and you can do it in three easy steps.
Check In
Start by enrolling in the Water Smart Landscapes rebate program (WSL) at the Southern Nevada Water Authority’s (SNWA) website, snwa.com. An SNWA Conservation staff member will contact you to schedule a visit to your property for a site inspection and to approve your application. Then, start planning your conversion with plant and tree lists and sample landscape designs available on the SNWA website, and displayed at the Springs Preserve’s Botanical Garden.
Dig In
When it comes to doing the work, you can dig in and do it yourself, or you can hire an experienced, professional landscape contractor to do it for you; the SNWA maintains a comprehensive list of Water Smart Contractors trained in water-efficiency practices who are happy to help you.
Cash In
Once you’ve finished your landscape conversion, you will contact SNWA Conservation to conduct a final review and approval and then you’ll receive a cash incentive of up to $3 per square foot (certain restrictions apply). Then see what you save on your monthly water bill while you do your part to conserve our community’s most precious natural resource.
