Allegiant Travel to expand operations in Oakland, Calif.
January 25, 2012 - 2:02 am
Allegiant Travel Co. has chosen Oakland International Airport for its eighth operations base and will more than double routes from there starting April 26.
Oakland, Calif., has been dominated by Southwest for several years, while other airlines schedule most of their Bay Area flights out of San Francisco International Airport.
Allegiant Travel's Allegiant Air now flies to three cities from Oakland, where it will now station two planes and 60 employees, but will add seven, including four Montana destinations, when the base is fully operational.
Other operating bases include McCarran International Airport, Phoenix-Mesa and Orlando Sanford International Airport in Florida.
