Hawaii gambling legislation fails to advance
It wouldn’t be a Hawaiian Legislative session without legalized gambling on the agenda.
And, once again, the idea was squashed.
Legislation that would have approved stand-alone casinos, lotteries and online gaming has failed to advance in Hawaii.
Three separate bills were introduced and all couldn’t gain any traction.
Hawaii joined Mississippi, Iowa and Washington, D.C,. as states and locations that have failed to pass online gaming measures this year.
Hawaii and Utah continue to be the only states without any form of gambling — lotteries, casinos or racetracks.
Utah lawmakers recently passed a bill prohibiting Internet gambling on computers and handheld devices within the state’s borders. A Republican lawmaker said, “We want to keep Utah free from the negative impacts of legalized gambling.”
